I recently hosted a bridal shower for a dear friend who is getting married in Hawaii in July of this year. Predictably, we had a luau theme shower – how could we not? The majority of the planning was my duty but I did have 3 co-hostesses (thank the Lord)! I started planning an inspiration board as a jump-off.
The menu consisted of Mini Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Island Chicken Skewers, Shrimp and Pineapple Bites, Dill Pickle and Olive Potato Salad, Sweet and Sour Meatballs and so much more. I really think the food is the best part of showers, but that’s just me. All the food was homemade by us hostesses and was so delicious.
After much obsessing, particularly over the “Pimp My Cupcake” bar, everything came together so wonderfully.
The cupcake bar was my favorite project. Let me tell you more about how I put it together. I used a paper cupcake stand from Martha Stewart Crafts and wrapped the edges with rainbow ribbon. For the cupcake decorations, I used an assortment of cocktail picks, gumballs, sprinkles and diy cocktail umbrellas (using toothpicks, festive paper, a circle punch and double stick tape). Here is a good tutorial for those. We even had a contest on who decorated pimped their cupcake the best. It was a great activity. See products below if you want to host a similar “Pimp My Cupcake” Bar.
Shout out to the talented photographer, Shayla Jenkins for capturing such a special time for Kim. The bride was so happy with her shower and she received some great gifts too!
I always recommend using a mood board when planning a party. I think we nailed it! What do you think? Feel free to reach out if you even need a party board for inspiration. I love making them and love to help plan parties!
