Master Peace

We are slowly getting our master bedroom together.  We purchased our side tables from Pottery Barn, and now we are looking for a bed/headboard, lamps and some classic and comfortable linens.  However, being in Texas in the summer calls for some edits to our bedroom space as we plan on having peaceful nights of slumber.  I don’t want to buy too much now and create a heavy space that literally feels too warm.

In the summer, I remove our duvet cover and let the duvet go commando.  We have a very light weight down comforter so without a heavier duvet cover, it’s really the perfect amount and cozy coverage for summer nights.  I still need new linens that will complement my stark white comforter.  I came across some gorgeous linens at Parachute Home and am intrigued by the possibility of getting linens from Italy.  That’s the elitist snob in me, y’all!

I read on the Parachute Blog that in Europe, the use
of a top sheet is quite uncommon.  This blew my American mind.  But
think about it.  Why do you need a top sheet, especially in the summer?
I can’t come up with a reason.  And one less thing to buy – my budget
likes that!

I think this set of pillow cases and a fitted sheet in crisp, white cotton percale would be perfect for our room for summer and beyond.

What do you do to get your bedroom ready for summer nights?  Do you sleep with a top sheet or without?
