Oscars 2016 Red Carpet Review

The red carpet is my favorite part of the Oscars.  I do like the last 4 awards or so.  So glad Leo won!!  But back to the real reason I’m posting.  I’m sharing my hits and misses of Oscar fashion.  My choices differ a bit from some of the other best and worst dressed lists I’ve seen.  But these are my authentic opinions.

Top 5:
1) Rooney
Mara – I loved this dress – the lace, the peplum, the color on her!  It
was somehow Victorian and Edwardian but sexy at the same time. This was my favorite dress of the evening by a landslide.

2) Charlize Theron – The color is amazing.
The cut is perfection.  Her
styling and hair and makeup is flawless.
That face is everything.  Love.

3) SofiaVergara – She looked gorgeous but I was even more excited that she did not wear a mermaid gown.  This was a stunning look for her.

Sofia Vergara in Marchesa

4) Jennifer Garner – Beautiful dress from the front but so stunning form the back.  I loved that she wore black.  Elegant perfection.

5)  Cate
Blanchett – I must admit I’m not a huge fan of the embellishment on the
shoulders but other than that, I adored this gown.  Cate looked ethereal as the gorgeous minty sea foam color played against her porcelain skin and her amazing figure.

Honorable Mentions:
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend looked so good.

Tina Fey slayed IMO.

Margot Robbie was my disco dream.

The Mehs:
Reese Witherspoon looked great but her dress wasn’t my fave.  It was ill-fitted.  Maybe she’s pregnant and in the awkward stage.  No shade – she looked great but she looked like she might be about 3 or 4 months along… just saying.

I actually really wanted Lady Ga Ga to be in the top 5 but the boobs – the ill-fitting boobs – made it a meh for me.  Other than that, I thought it was a really cool yet elegant look.

Lady Ga Ga in Brandon Maxwell

Saoirse Ronan looked so grown and pretty but the dress was not that special for me.  I didn’t like where the waist hit her.  It looked like she needed to poop in this pose.  But, the color was beautiful.

First, let me say that I loved Olivia Munn’s dress.   That tangerine color really worked with her skin tone.  But girlfriend was a little too lithe for me.  Sorry to get personal.  I just always thought she was so pretty but she’s looking odd.  Her face benefits from a bit of fullness.  So she gets a meh… #SorryNotSorry

Just NO!:
I have no words for Heidi Klum… or Brie Larson.  Because I threw up in my mouth and can’t speak right now.

Hate to say this b/c I’m usually such a fan but I did not appreciate Jennifer Lawrence’s dress.  It reminded me of the awful Gwyneth Paltrow number from a few years back.  At least Jennifer fills the dress out.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

I have a hard time with the fact that Alicia Vikander made the best dress list for some.  Why?  It’s yellow and poufy with geometric silver sequins splattered on it haphazardly.  I don’t get it.

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton

I wasn’t a fan of Kerry Washington’s dress either.  She’s hit or miss for me anyway.  This is a miss.  Maybe she was channeling Mad Max “couture” since the movie did so well for the evening.  Her body is rockin’, however!

I do realize there are other people and dresses that looked way worse than these (well maybe not worse than Heidi Klum) but these stood out b/c I think they could have been so much better so in turn, they were bad.
