Upside Down Puff Pastry Tart

I absolutely love puff pastry and I’ve been seeing this viral upside down puff pastry tart video all on TikTok, Pinterest you name it. It’s been all over the Internets. I bake a lot and I cook a lot and tweak recipes to my own liking so I wanted to do my own spin on an upside down puff pastry tart. So here’s what I did:

Let’s call my official recipe ~ Honey, Bacon and Cream Cheese Upside Down Puff Pastry Tart. So the name is long but who cares! It’s so good. It is so good. I can’t stress enough in an obnoxious way. I’m gonna say it again. It is so good. You must make this. With just six ingredients, it comes to so easily, which as a self proclaimed lazy person is important to me. I mean, if you’re still eating carbs and love pastry, you gotta make it. Here’s the recipe which is my own and the flavors turned out great!! Bin appetite!

Honey, Bacon and Cream Cheese Upside Down Puff Pastry Tart

Ingredients:

1 sheet store-bought puff pastry, thawed

5 tbsp honey

1 small shallot

5 tbsp whipped cream cheese

5 pinches of dried thyme

Crushed black pepper to taste

1 egg for egg wash

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.

Cut thawed puff pastry into 5 equal rectangles, set aside.

Spoon 1 tablespoon of honey on parchment paper to make 5 rectangle areas. Arrange 3-4 slices of shallots overtop of the honey and top with bacon bits, then top with 1 tablespoon of the whipped cream cheese into the center of each rectangle. Sprinkle thyme and black pepper over the filling and cover with a puff pastry rectangle. Use a fork to crimp the edges to adhere to parchment.

Brush the tops with egg wash and bake for 10 to 14 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Cool for about 2 minutes before flipping over with a large spatula.

Let me know if you make this or another variation (check Pinterest for more recipes).
