10 Songs To Soothe Baby That Are Actually Cool

I love music.   It’s a very important part of my life and I’d say it may mean more to me than it does to the average person, although my husband seems to love it to the same degree as I do.  We just love music!  Hopefully it will be the same for both of my children.  It just seems to me that when people are not that into music, they are grumpier and less cool. Right?

These days I’m really into downtempo, acid jazz and instrumentals.  Luckily, this kind of music is kid friendly. And, I’ll one up that – certain songs from those genres can even be used to put kiddos to sleep.  I know because I play real music for Briggs at night time and for Dax in the car when I want some chill time.  I do play some lullaby channels on YouTube for the baby but if I’m going to sleep at the same time, I can’t listen to that.  He’s still in our room in the bassinet so I need to be able to play him some mommy friendly music if he needs soothing.

This playlist I’m sharing features a nice mix of chill jazz, adult contemporary and downtempo music that is very sleepy baby friendly.  Music that an adult can also listen to and not have visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads.  Meaning, it’s adult friendly and actually cool but safe and soothing for little ones (make sure to keep the volume low).  After all, you can still be cool and be a parent.  I promise.

From top to bottom:

I Go To Sleep – Sia
Familiar Ground – Cinematic Orchestra
Little by Little – Groove Armada
Drift – Alina Baraz and Galimatias
Sleepwalk – Renee Olstead
Little One – Bilal
Good Knight – Emancipator
These Dreams – Heart
Sapphire – Bonobo
A Gentle Dissolve – Thievery Corporation

Do you have any go-to songs you play for your kiddos that are not actually kid songs? I think I’ll compile a kid-friendly pop/hip-hop playlist soon so I’d love to hear from you on this. Remember, I love music!
