Lately (and a Sequestered Schitt’s Creek Birthday Party)

Hey friends! I haven’t really posted a “Lately” post because honestly, I haven’t been up to much, other than the podcast. However, I’m starting to get out of the funk of being so isolated so I thought I finally share some tidbits of life lately and some things I’m into these days. Also, I really wanted to share my Sequestered Schitt’s Creek Birthday Party. More on that a bit later.

I tend to be an optimist bordering on a realist and with my optimism comes a need for escape, frivolity, and most of all, laughter when I’m surrounded by negativity. I hope this post offers a bit of escapism for you, if you seek it.

Leos Rule The World

Well, they rule my world anyway. I’m a Leo and my oldest son is as well (God help my husband, am I right?) and I legit have nineteen Leo people in my life who I call good friends. Maybe not 19 but you know I love hyperbole – hello – Leo here! I also love birthdays so I made sure that even though our family decided to forgo larger parties this year, we still celebrated with our little gang of 4.

I “threw” Dax a little Shark themed “party” for his eighth birthday last week and he loved the decorations and of course, his gifts.

Yesterday was my birthday and I “threw” myself a Sequestered Schitt’s Creek birthday party.

I’m still obsessed with Schitt’s Creek (about to re-watch it) and I loved planning my wee party. Check out the Whimsical Cinnamon buns and Ahn-Chiladas. All the sassy, sarcastic quotes I printed were killer details. I even channeled Moira Rose’s wig game and had some “Zhampagne.”

This sequestered Schitt’s Creek birthday party was so fun and big thanks to my husband for being a good sport about my costume party for one! Also, click here to see where I found the Herb Ertlinger Fruit wine labels and here for David Rose’s sweaters.

Oh, he also bought me a guitar and I was thrilled. So, yeah, I’m learning to play the guitar and if I get a song down, there will be a Youtube video. Probably. Maybe. We’ll see.

Links and Such

Tomorrow, I’ll be posting a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale round up. Early Access for cardholders with Insider status starts and the Public Sale starts on August 19 – so get ready! I feel like this year’s offerings are really good compared to the past few years. I’ll probably post whatever I end up buying on my Instagram stories later this week or next week.

I am always obsessed with something new from one week to the next. This week? Coupe glasses. I’m on the prowl for the perfect coupe glasses for all the other costume parties for one I’ll be having in the near future. I love these and these from CB2. Here’s a lovely affordable option from Bed Bath & Beyond. My favorite so far is this ladylike style from Crate & Barrel.

Loving these two Instagram accounts. Follow @glographics for thoughtful points regarding race relations and positivity and @lisaoliveratherapy (a licensed therapist) for access to emotional health topics and messages.

I’m really appreciating Joe Rogan’s podcast these days.

We’re seriously thinking about going here to celebrate our Anniversary next year. Most places have free cancellations and airlines are waiving change fees so if traveling still feels weird next year, there’s no risk. But I am itching for a vacation y’all!

Go visit House of Bohn for all sorts of decor inspo and for information on her Netflix Series, Restaurants on the Edge.

So that’s just a little bit of my life and likes lately, while still sequestered. Hope you find something of interest to click on. Be well!
