Indulgent Golden Oreo Banana Pudding

I am all about summer BBQs and cookouts, whatever you call them. And although I can cook, I really enjoy bringing desserts (remember this recipe?). I love to add sweetness to other’s lives, ya know! So last weekend I decided to finally try a banana pudding recipe. Can you believe I’ve never made banana pudding? What a travesty! But I made up for it. Did I ever!! I was inspired by Magnolia Bakery’s famous version and also by Paula Deen’s “Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding Recipe“. Y’all. I mean, Y’ALL! This was so good. I know I’m not a humble person but I am not a dishonest person either. No lies told here. You must make this. Now! So here’s the rundown on how to make my Indulgent Golden Oreo Banana Pudding.

You’ll need bananas, obviously. And everything else pictured here. Actual recipe coming up later in the post.

I used my handy dandy 9″ x 13″ pan that features a lid with a handle. Yup – find it here. This dish was headed to a pool party so a portable pan is so convenient! Ok, so layer those tasty Golden Oreos on the bottom of the pan. I cut a few in half to fill in the gaps.

Next up, layer the bananas over the cookies. I go light on the bananas and only used three but feel free to add more and layer it up with 4 to 5 ‘nanners.

Make the pudding and then layer it over the bananas. *To be noted – I used 2 cups of milk for a thicker pudding although the recipe on the pudding box calls for 3 cups of milk. Do you.

Refrigerate the pan o’ pudding and then make the topping. Mix up the cream cheese with the condensed milk. When that is all luscious and stuff, slowly mix in aka fold in the cool whip.

Spread the topping over the pudding. I had some left over so I chose to eat it on its own as a dessert. Pre-gaming but instead of drinks, dessert.

Top with a few crumbled Oreos and banana pieces (or slices). I like the pieces because I think they take longer to turn brown. Don’t quote me on that. I say again, do you.

Refrigerate until you’re ready to roll or eat. Enjoy. Loosen your pants. Enjoy again. Workout the next day.

Indulgent Golden Oreo Banana Pudding

Prep time: 15 minutes; Serves: 8 – 12

Ingredients:

3 to 6 bananas (all depends on you)
1 family size bag Golden Oreo cookies
1 (5-oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups milk
1 (12-oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed, or equal amount sweetened whipped cream
1 (14-oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened

Directions:

Line the bottom of a 9 x13 inch dish with an even layer of Oreo cookies.
Layer bananas on top.
In a medium to large bowl, make the pudding according to package directions except use 2 cups milk. Spread over cookies and refrigerate until next step is ready.
In another bowl or using a stand mixer, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk and mix on medium speed until smooth.
Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture on low speed – do not over mix. You want to keep the mixture light and airy.
Spread the whipped mixture over the pudding layer.
Cover with the remaining crumbled cookies and a few banana pieces or slices (optional).
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
